Memorial Weekend on the Oregon Coast. There was a lot of sand.

Sand from Honeyman State Park’s Dinosaur Mountain, the Lake Cleawox dunes, and Heceta Beach.

I broke the very first law of How Not to Look Like a Hippie in Oregon: I wore socks with sandals.
Smallest brother and I went for a walk again yesterday. It’s been raining hard all week, we managed to get out between showers, and this happened. I love when this happens.

So over the weekend, we watched this Bollywood movie, and the only word I can think of to describe is it absurd.

It is called Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, or Dancing Jodi in English, but I think it translates into something like “match made by God.” It is the story of a very ordinary man, Suri, who finds himself married to a girl he doesn’t know after her father unexpectedly dies. Of course he falls in love with her, but is too awkward to woo her—so he gets a makeover and a new identity: Raj, who is over-the-top flirtatious and obnoxious. Then he tries to get her to fall in love with Raj, and that’s a mess and it resolves kind of like Shakespeare, I guess. My family and I are all very confused why he tried to get his wife to cheat on him—with himself. Like I said, it is absurd.

If you have Netflix and a spare two-and-a-half hours (we spread it out over two days,)  I’m positive it will make you laugh. Even if not always for the right reasons. Oh and if I haven’t mentioned it, I totally love Bollywood music and clothes and dancing and colors and I might be on a Bollywood binge right now.

Even if you aren’t a mother, pull up a chair and watch this whole thing. And share it with your mother, too. I always have loved Mr. T but now I know why.

Whenever a season happens again, I begin to remember all the good things about it. That’s why it’s so hard for me to pick a favorite! It’s like deciding between flavors: Can’t I just have a little of each? Everything’s so delicious!

Yes, I am remembering just how green and gorgeous summer in the Willamette Valley is.

Photos taken while wandering around our yard when the light was good, and also while accompanying my smallest brother on his dog-walking job.

Oh, and if you don’t already, please click on the pictures for larger sizes, better shapes, and the short notes. Enjoy summer :)

So I know I dropped the ball on the Saturday Walks thing, but in my defense there was school/finals/packing/etc. The deal is: now I am home and without a pedometer so I don’t actually do the Saturday Walks thing anymore.

But that doesn’t mean I’ve stopped seeing beautiful things or taking pictures of them. There are some here from my final days in Utah and then some from Oregon, too. Please enjoy! I will come back with more, too.

Citizen Kane came out 71 years ago! This is Orson Welles and a telegram about him and the premier. Cool stuff, guys.

Holy Crayola, indeed!

pogomix:

All sounds from ‘Citizen Kane’, 1941.

Pogo = Yes.

Orson Welles’ voice = Big Yes.

Citizen Kane Pogomix = Best Combination Ever? I think so.
